Honestly I was in the same boat a few months ago. My apartment is a constant mess (I swear the clutter multiplies when I’m not looking) and I thought a storage bench would magically fix everything. So I grabbed one from a secondhand shop – no idea what brand, just something that looked sturdy enough.
The annoyance: the lid is HEAVY. Like, you have to use two hands and brace yourself. I kept dropping it on my own fingers while trying to grab a blanket. Totally defeats the purpose of quick storage. And the thing didn’t even fit under my window like I’d planned.
Surprising thing: it’s actually kinda comfortable to sit on? I was expecting wobbly and horrible, but it’s fine for tying shoes. Not that I tie shoes there often because my place is too cluttered to even get to it half the time.
Honestly? My old way – just shoving stuff into a cardboard box under the bed – worked just as well. Maybe better because the box cost zero dollars. I dunno if I used the storage bench wrong (probably) but yeah… not the miracle I imagined. If your apartment is as messy as mine, a storage bench won’t fix the root problem. It’ll just be a bulky thing you trip over.
Typo I’m not fixing: “apartment.” See?
