Oh man, I was in the exact same spot a few months ago. Saw everyone talking about “what to know chair” and thought, “Maybe this is the thing that Last thing— fixes my back and my cluttered living room at the same time.” Spoiler: it did not.

So I got one (well, I borrowed one from a friend who said I could “test drive it”). And here’s the thing – I actually really wanted it to work. My apartment is a disaster zone of old boxes and half-finished projects, and the chair was supposed to help me organize my “work corner” (which is just my bed with a laptop anyway).

The annoying part? It made this weird creaking noise every time I leaned back. Even after I tightened everything with duct tape (my specialty), it still sounded like a haunted porch swing. No clue if that’s normal or if I just got a dud, but it drove me nuts.

What surprised me (and I’m almost embarrased to say this) was that my old method – a pillow on the floor with my back against the wall – honestly felt better for my posture. Don’t get me wrong, the chair had some nice features. But I think I was using it wrong? Like, maybe I needed to adjust something I didn’t see… I dunno. I’m not exactly a chair expert.

Anyway, if you’re a newbie, I’d say save your money unless you’ve got a specific problem that a chair solves. For me, the pillow method works fine and doesn’t creak. Also, my cat likes to sit in the chair now, so there’s that.
