Okay, so I totally felt like I *needed* one of those outdoor chairs last spring. My apartment balcony is a disaster zone half the time—potted plants everywhere, the kid’s bike, and my husband’s random tool collection… I thought, “This is it, I’ll get one of those foldy camping-ish chairs and Last thing— enjoy sitting outside without my back screaming at me.”

Well, I ordered one (you know, from one of those Facebook ads that got me). It arrived, I set it up, and… ugh. The thing was way heavier than I expected? Like, I’m not weak but dragging it through the sliding door was a workout. And it took up so much space. I couldn’t even put it next to the little bistro table I already have. So now it’s just sitting in the corner of my living room, collecting dust, and my cat thinks it’s a scratching post.

Honestly, I think I bought the wrong type of chair. There are so many different kinds—like, do you want the low-to-the-ground one? The one with a canopy? The “rocker” version? I didn’t even think about that. I just saw the words “outdoor chair” and clicked buy.

One thing that surprised me (but I won’t hype it up): it actually *is* pretty comfortable for about 20 minutes. Then my butt goes numb. Not sure if that’s the chair’s fault or my weird posture. I probably sit in it wrong. I’m also pretty sure I’m supposed to use those little side pockets for drinks, but I keep forgetting to bring a drink outside, so that feature is wasted on me.

What really annoyed me? The armrests are too low. Like, my elbows don’t rest on them, they just hover. So I end up slouching to use them. That’s not exactly “relaxing.” I saw someone on Reddit say you can put a pillow under your arms, but who has extra pillows for outdoor furniture? Not me.

And the whole “folding” thing… it folds but it’s not exactly compact. I have to store it in the hallway because my balcony has no storage. So it’s just this big plastic rectangle in my way. My old solution—sitting on a throw pillow on the floor—worked fine. I mean, yeah, I’d get grass stains on my jeans, but at least I didn’t have to store a whole chair.

I think if you have a porch or a yard where you can leave it out, it might be worth it. But for my tiny apartment with no shed? Nah. I’m probably going to give it to my neighbor’s kid for camping. Let them deal with hauling it around.
