my game controller daily use — My Unsolicited Two Cents

Yeah, I had a similar thing happen. I bought one of those fancy controllers (not gonna name names, you know the one everyone talks about) after seeing so many people rave about it online. Thought it would change my whole setup.

Turns out I was just… I dunno, missing the point? My old method was literally just the default stick and button setup on my laptop, and honestly? It worked fine. The new controller just sat there collecting dust for a week before I even bothered charging it.

One thing that annoyed me was the layout. My fingers kept hitting the wrong buttons ’cause I’m so used to the older, simpler layout from my childhood. And the joystick felt too sensitive? Like I’d breathe on it and my character would spin around like a drunk squirrel. Maybe I just have heavy thumbs.

The thing that surprised me (but it’s not like a huge deal) was how quiet the buttons are. I was expecting that loud click-clack, but it’s more like a soft thud. Not sure if that’s good or bad, honestly. I still prefer the tactile feedback of the old clicky buttons, but it’s not a dealbreaker.

Oh and my apartment is a disaster right now—there’s a pile of laundry on the couch that’s been there for three days, and I’ve got a half-eaten bag of chips next to my monitor. So take my opinions with a grain of keyboard dust.

I probably used it wrong anyway. Didn’t read the manual (who does?) and just plugged it in. It worked, but I kept accidentally hitting the back paddles or whatever they’re called. That was annoying.

So yeah, if you’re new and wondering if it’s useful… maybe try borrowing one first? Or stick with what you have. I’m back to my old method now. The controller is in a drawer. Maybe one day I’ll dig it out when I’m bored.
